Troops Waiting on Shore to Board Rescue Ships

Image Information
Original caption: “Masses of British troops on the shore, lining up in orderly manner to embark.” Long lines of British and French soldiers wait for rescue on the beaches. With no way to board ships at sea except a single quay, the British improvised a makeshift pier out of trucks so that shallow draft vessels could ferry men out to larger ships.
