| This North American B-25J-37-NC Mitchell medium bomber serial number 45-8813, represents an evolution from a glass “greenhouse” nose Block 35 version to a solid nose with 58 caliber (12.7 millimeter) M2 Browning machine guns. This Block 37 version also has mounting points for 13-inch (127 millimeter) rockets. 45-8813 never saw combat, but was held as a possible donation to the United States Air Force Museum. Flown to the 105th Base Unit, Davis-Monthan Field, Tucson, Arizona, in June 1946. | |
