Original caption: “After holding a woodland position all night near Wiltz, Luxembourg, against German counter attack, three men of B Company, 101st Engineers, emerge for a rest.” The 101st Engineer Battalion fought with the 26th Infantry Division under Patton’s 3rd Army, and provided the maps to the 3rd Army for the relief of the 101st Airborne Division during the Battle of the Bulge. Note M1 Bazookas, cases for 30 caliber ammunition, entrenching spade, and shoepac cold weather footgear.
