| Führer und Reichskanzler (“Leader and Reich Chancellor”) Adolf Hitler (April 20, 1889 – April 30, 1945) receives Slovak Republic President Father Jozef Tiso (October 13, 1887 – April 18, 1947), left, in the Reichskanzlei (“Reich Chancellory”). Czechoslovakia was dissolved and taken under the “protection” of the 3rd Reich as the Slovak Republic on October 26, 1939. The new state was formally recognized by the Soviet Union and Germany, with de facto recognition by the United Kingdom and France, but not by the United States. Heinrich Hoffmann (September 12, 1885 – December 16, 1957) was Adolf Hitler’s official photographer, and a Nazi politician and publisher, who was a member of Hitler’s intimate circle. Hoffmann’s photographs were a significant part of Hitler’s propaganda campaign to present himself and the Nazi Party as a significant mass phenomenon. He received royalties from all uses of Hitler’s image, which made him a millionaire over the course of Hitler’s rule. | |
