Photographed by Private Robert R. “Bob” Campbell (September 10, 1910 – April 4, 1968), United States Marine Corps Reserve. Bob Campbell would later accompany Joe Rosenthal (October 9, 1911 – August 20, 2006) and William H. “Bill” Genaust (October 12, 1906 – March 4, 1945) up the slopes of Mount Suribachi to photograph the flag raisings.
