United States President Harry S. Truman (4th from left) is presented with a bound volume of the German edition of the Stars and Stripes by Staff Sergeant Paul J. Elliott (June 22, 1914 – July 14, 1972), Managing Editor of the Germany locale of the publication. Also with the President are Colonel John MacLean “Jack” Redding (December 26, 1908 – April 1, 1965), Superintendent of Army Group Public Relations of Europe, Captain Max K. Gillstrap (July 9, 1911 – December 20, 1957) Editor-in-Chief of Stars and Stripes Europe, and Private Ernest S. Leiser (February 26, 1921 – November 26, 2002), staff member of Stars and Stripes. They are in President Truman’s office in the “Little White House,” his residence during the Potsdam Conference.
