Anjelica Huston is said to be directing The White Rose, the American (actually a multinational production) version of the story of the White Rose resistance group formed of German university students in 1943. Hans and Sophie Scholl, and others, were executed for distributing leaflets critical of the Nazis and the war. Christina Ricci will play Sophie Scholl and Martin Gruber, who at 35 is way too old for the part, will play Hans Scholl. Tim Robbins, Albert Finney and Liam Nesson are also slated to star. Shooting took place in 2004 in Germany.
After the superlative Sophie Scholl releaed in the US last February, I can't see how an American version would do any justice, it will be hard to improve on the earlier version of the story.
