This memorial was sculpted by Paul Day. Note the wreaths and flowers on the memorial. The Battle of Britain still speaks to a lot of people there. I can't imagine the tension in Britain in 1940. Visiting it for the second time, I was drawn to just how close they were to France and German bombers when I visited Dover. Right-click and choose "view image" to enlarge.
