The War

914/06 Ken Burns is directing a new documentary miniseries for PBS, called The War, about the experiences of ordinary Americans during World War II. Focusing on four cities around the continental United States, their lives will be examined by narrator David McCullough and slow moving still photography. (I'm guessing - Ken Burns hasn't changed his moviemaking style in decades.) Burns is expected to focus on African Americans, Japanese Americans, rich and poor, and the home front and the front line in Mobile, Alabama; Sacramento, California; Luverne, Minnesota; and Wterbury, Connecticut.

A really good book that has a similiar perspective is Stud Terkel's The Good War.
