Dover Radio

This shot reminded me of the radio towers that were erected on the Dover Plain during World War II. The Chain Home Stations were critical to the Battle of Britain, and Dover’s radar stations were constant targets. However, the light steel structures are only able to be destroyed with a direct hit. Hitting towers from 22 miles away is harder than you think, especially when they didn't have any computers. Right-click and choose "view image" to enlarge.
