Dover Secret Tunnels Air Shaft

Four air shafts brought fresh air down into the tunnel complex. Also drilled during the Napoleonic wars, this really impressed me with their engineering. One of these air shafts was converted into an elevator for disabled visitors. I assume they were filtered in case of gas attack. You can see the conductor that brough air to another part of the complex in the bottom of the photo. Right-click and choose "view image" to enlarge.
