MTB-71 was built in 1942, with money raised by the people of Aldridge, England. She was built by the Vospers Company, and served on patrol until 1948. Intended for the Norwegian Navy, she was taken into the Royal Navy when Norway fell to the Nazis.

MTB-71 was 60 feet long, with two 18" torpedo tubes and two twin mounts of .303 machine guns. She could achieve 38 knots. She was one of the many air and sea units rallied to stop the sortie of the Scharnhorst and Gneisnau, along with the ever-present Prinz Eugen, in February 1942. The Royal Navy was unable to sink or stop the German flotilla from successfully running the Dover Straight and making it from Breast, France to the North Sea.

Here you see the MTB as it is now displayed in Duxford. Hopefully they will soon erect a stand for viewing the top of the boat.
