st. paul's 1940

St. Paul's in 1940. That's smoke, not clouds. It became a symbol of British resistance to the Nazis. If St. Paul's stood, London could "take it."

st paul's behind damged buildings

The buildings around St. Paul's smoke and crumble while St. Paul's stands unbroken behind it.

st. Paul's behind damage

St. Paul's was easily seen from much of the city. Her intact dome gave hope to the people of London.
