Steve writes in with corrections about the Iron Cross on the World War II Questions page.

Also, an update on my blog page about a photo from Okinawa. An American soldier, wounded, survives the battle to talk with me about his photo in the National Archives.

Sorry for such a lack of updates - I've finally left my job, which was trying to kill me with overwork. I choose sleep over updates - that's how bad it was.

I've been working on updaitng the photos on the site, in preparation for a completely new image archive that will allow visitors to search for photos by keywords. The first step is to edit, review, and correct the information on the annotations on the photos. Today I uploaded the first batch of 350 photos that are corrected. Besides making them more accurate in terms of location, date of photo, and historical information, I've also made them generally larger and clearer. Look for the new image archive in the Fall.
