I guess some traditions die hard - this guy must've made the hammocks for the crew. In the event of loss of power, he could also make a sail and assist with battle damage repairs. When the US Lend-Lease destroyers arrived, the British saliors found the bunks hard to get used to because they were used to canvas hammocks. Right-click and choose "view image" to enlarge.
