RAF Duxford Sector Station Operations Room Status Indicator

This light-up panel would show the status at-a-glance of Duxford's fighter squadrons, whether they were at standby, taking off, in the air, enemy sighted, enemy engaged, ordered to land, and landed and refueling.

Combat could take only a few seconds. Reports would come into the Sector Station from pilot radios, telephone reports from observers, and from Fighter Command itself.
