The Churchill AVRE (Armored Vehicle Royal Engineers) mounted a 290mm spigot mortar that had to be loaded externally, very dangerous to the user. Nevertheless this vehicle was much in demand as the Allies breached the Siegfried Line in 1945. Right-click and choose "view image" to enlarge.
